Wait... did she just come to the table with a giant bucket of soup? And beans? And salsa? Hold up... dinner comes with that AND salad AND potatoes AND garlic bread AND a float or after dinner shot? AND your main!?
WHAT!?
Never have I been more confused (also, thrilled) to see this much food arriving at the table, but that's what AJ Spurs is all about. If you're coming to AJ Spurs, bring your appetite and then some, or plan to take it home. Never before have I been served so much food!
We were staying at the hotel across the street and the lazy yelper in me didn't want to go out and try to find the best rated place to eat. I wanted to get my fill of food and roll my butt back to the hotel to relax - AJ Spurs was right across the street and super easy to get to.
I tried their ribs and they were quite tasty but the portion is huuuuuge - go for the half rack if you're busy filling up on soup and all the other accouterments. All of the food was really good too! The soup! OMG I am not a soup person but I could have made a meal of that soup and been happy as a pig in muck. But there was MOAR! SO MUCH FOOD!
Service was wonderful, prompt but not intrusive and everything came out piping hot and ready to eat. The after dinner shot was a nice way to finish the meal too! -

What happened to this place?? Drinks were awful, watered down, and who puts a ton of ice in a cosmo?
The old fashion was water, orange peel mountain, and sugar poured in. Couldn't even finish them. $21??
Never happened before. So sad. -

Came in for a birthday meal and had the honor of being seated in Cassidy's section. She was on top of her game and made sure all 10 of us were taken care of. We never had a need or want as she was right there when we needed her but not overbearing.
Food was great as always and the Twin Peaks was the ish!!!!! -

FOOD: dinner comes with soup, beans, salsa, salad, potatoes, garlic bread, and root beer float or ice cream.
- Seafood Alfredo: Fettuccine in Alfredo sauce topped with shrimp, scallops and fish. This plate was huge! I took half home but I really should have taken 2/3 because I was so full! The Alfredo sauce was really good. The shrimp and scallops were tasty. The fish needed to be marinated or marinated longer, it was bland. 3.5/5
SERVICE: We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was friendly. After all of our food was served it took awhile for our waitress to get back to us. And it wasn't even that busy. 3.5/5
FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back! I thought my dish was a little on the pricey side but for all that they give you, it's worth it. -

The girlfriend and I visited AJs recently, about 20 minutes until they closed. Since we have both worked in the service industry, we know that coming in so late is kind of a dick move, but we were hungry and it was the only place open. We were both very, very impressed with Kevin, the closing bartender. He had a few other guests he was taking care of, both at the bar and in the lounge, but his level of enthusiasm, friendliness, and attentiveness at this late hour was exceptional and warranted taking the time to write a review.
For the food, I got "the gambler" and my girlfriend got "the tombstone" ... mine was a comically large steak (40 something ounces) & also came with salad, potatoes, beans, salsa, a massive cast iron pot of soup, and our choice of a root beer float or a digestif at the end. Oh, and they even gave me a free tee shirt for attempting to eat everything.
All the food was great, the quantities were enormous, and the price was much less than anticipated, considering we both got three meals each for $100 total, after a generous tip.
We'll definitely be back, hopefully Kevin will be working.
